Under Pressure
A fascinating combination of materials, amazing for outdoor use
HPL is short for ‘High-Pressure Laminate’. It consists of a wood-fibre core and two top layers that are laminated together under high pressure and high temperature.
HPL consists of more than 60-70% paper, with the remaining 30-40% a combination of resins - a plant or synthetic polymer. These materials which crosslink during the press cycle creating irreversible chemical bonds that produce a nonreactive, stable material with characteristics different and superior to those of the component parts.
This results in a dense and rock-solid top that withstands sunlight and moisture, making it the perfect material for outdoor use.

Care & Maintenance
Does this material even need cleaning?
High-pressure laminates can usually be wiped clean with just a damp cloth or sponge using a mild soap, non-bleach detergent, or a general-purpose cleaner. Ammoniated and/or vinegar-based glass cleaners are best for cleaning surfaces soiled by grease.
Avoid using abrasive cleaners/powders and metal or abrasive-coated scouring pads should not be used on most laminates as they may permanently dull and scratch the laminate and make it more susceptible to staining.
