With any furniture type and surface, there’s some general guidelines & tips to follow when it comes to cleaning outdoor furniture:
- Wipe down with a soft brush or slightly damp or dry cloth to loosen and remove dirt and debris
- Give the surface a deeper clean with material-appropriate cleaning products. We offer a range of products, suitable for all your needs.
- Allow furniture to dry completely before lounging in them again
- If possible, store and protect your items during harder weather conditions like winter-time.
As outdoor materials are more exposed to rain, sun, dirt, debris and pollutants including bird droppings and tree sap, it’s important to clean your outdoor furniture regularly. To avoid staining, don’t allow mildew, sunscreen or oily leaves to allow to sit for long periods of time.
How often you need to clean and protect your furniture, depends on location, usage and exposure to the elements. For example, furniture in open air or next to the sea-side requires some more care.

Teak
New teak has a beautiful golden-brown colour. Due to exposure to the elements of nature it gradually changes colour from a honey-brown to a silver-grey patina. This is the look of finely aged and well-maintained outdoor teak. But, if teak remains untreated, this silver-grey patina deteriorates to a dark-grey and greenish.
A transparent protector makes the wood water- & dirt repellent and helps to prevent stains while keeping the natural look.
Apply a non-hazardous teak cleaner to clean and restore discoloured, dark grey teak and hardwood. Use the appropriate tools and vvoid using a hard brush to clean your teak furniture.

Aluminium
The biggest risk for any outdoor metal furniture is rust and corrosion. Over time, it can create problems for any exposed metal surfaces. Luckily, aluminium has a high resistance to rust. Jati & Kebon aluminium furniture is protected by a high-quality, water-repellent powder coating. The resulting finish is knock and scratch resistant, impregnable to moisture, highly resistant to corrosion and easy to clean.
Make sure to handle the furniture with care, avoiding scratches and dents that could damage the coating, making your furniture more vulnerable to the elements. Also watch our for corrosive liquids like sunscreen and cosmetics.
It's recommended to further improve the resistance by applying an extra layer of protection with the Multisurface Protector.
